ABS

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is one of the most common domestic plastics due to it's versatility. Most of us were first exposed to ABS when we were young playing with LEGOs®. ABS is a thermoplastic meaning it becomes liquid at a certain temperature (221˚F). This makes it a very mailable material, good for any number of products. Because of it's ability to be melted and reformed it's also easily recyclable.

ABS has a strong resistance to chemicals and physical impacts. It's fairly cheaper than other materials and is easily machined, glued, and painted. Along with it's low melting temperature this makes it a very desirable material for prototypes.
